Sen.Ezea commends Tinubu for assenting SEDC bill

*SEDC will reduce cries of marginalisation in South-East*
 _-- Sen. Okey Ezea_

Distinguished Senator Okey Ezea, representing Enugu North, has expressed joy over the presidential assent to the South-East Development Commission Bill. In a post on his verified X handle, the Labour Party senator thanks President Bola Tinubu for signing the bill into law.

He states: "I'm immeasurably pleased with the President, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for signing into law the South-East Development Commission Bill. With this assent, our efforts in the National Assembly have yielded fruit, as the South-East Development Commission Act has now come into being.

"This is a joyful time for all South-East including the people of Enugu North senatorial district. We hope that the new SEDC will be adequately funded so it could temper the cries of marginalisation in the South-East since the end of the civil war in 1970. The problems of erosion, bad roads and other infrastructure deficits in the South-East, we expect, would be tackled head-on. Consequently, we in the South-East should hope to enjoy a new era of peace and security for a long time to come.

"Congratulations to fellow South-East lawmakers in both the Senate and the House of Representatives on this successful effort."

Also signed into law by the President is the North-East Development Commission Bill.

The failure of former President Muhammadu Buhari to give his assent to the bills as passed by the 9th National Assembly led to their re-presentation in the 10th National Assembly.
