OPI PEOPLE PROTEST AS NSUKKA LOCAL GOVERNMENT CHAIRMAN CLAIMS ANCESTRAL LAND, DEMOLISHES PROPERTIES WITHOUT NOTICE.

OPI PEOPLE PROTEST AS  ENGR.JUDE ASOGWA ALLEGEDLY CLAIMS ANCESTORAL LAND BELONGING TO THEM, DEMOLISHES PROPERTIES WITHOUT NOTICE.

The patriotic people of Opi strongly condemn the ongoing demolition of ancestral land belonging to a particular village in Opi, being carried out by the local government chairman Engr.Jude Asogwa Chinedu without any prior notice or information provided to the rightful owners.

According to the people, it embarrassing and  troubling to note that there is no evidence indicating that the said land was officially mapped out as government property or for any designated public purpose and suddenly, people's properties and farmlands were seen being excavated according to the directive of the council chairman. 
Such actions are unjustifiable and a gross violation of the rights of the landowners.

The people of Opi hereby urge the chairman to immediately desist from further demolition activities as such acts are capable of overshadowing all the good work he has done and tarnishing his reputation. Ultimately, the blame for this regrettable situation will fall solely on him as those supporting him from a distance may not be spotted in due time.


However, the people further call on the chairman to compensate the affected landowners for the damages already caused by this unwarranted and inhuman action.
 Restorative justice must be served to maintain peace and fairness.

However, the leadership is yet to respond to any call to get her view on the matter.
